Lauree Ostrofsky is Chief Hugger at Simply Leap, LLC. As a speaker, author and coach, she empowers clients to make sweeping changes at work and home. Changes that come from what we see is possible, and how unabashedly we go after them. After a 10-year stint in New York City, she now lives in Washington, DC with her plants Adelaide, Paisley, and two more who haven’t told her their names yet.

Captivating From Page One!

I was absorbed in Lauree's story from the beginning. I'm Scared and Doing it Anyway is written in an engaging and personal voice that transports the reader into a compelling narrative. It's one that illustrates how sometimes what seems like the worst thing can turn out to be a way of breaking open and moving closer to who you are meant to be.

Through Lauree's courage in the face of a brain tumor, and not one, but three brain surgeries, I found insights into what it means to forgive, to love, to let go and ultimately, to love oneself by loving others.

As we are led through the various obstacles and victories the author faces, the book speaks to the resiliency of not only the physical body, but of the ability to keep going in the face of surmounting challenges.

We all have our "white blobs." Some are bigger than others. Lauree's story exemplified for me that we always have the ability to let go and see what the blobs have to show us. If we do, we may find our lives changed for the better.

A Big Thank You Hug

This book took me to places of truth and beauty. I was inspired by what it reveals about the love that others unknowingly give and about one person's journey to recognize and accept that love - love that is given to the world as well as to the self and is returned in abundance.
Through sharing her journey Lauree Ostrofsky hopes that her readers will take on the “scared and doing it anyway” approach. Her words console what is broken in each of us. They wrap us in her embrace as she asks us to love ourselves even more for facing our failings and fears. Her story encourages us to give what we have - all of it, and to demand more for ourselves knowing we deserve it.
This book makes me hurt for the friend I didn't know struggled so deeply and hurt for my own fears. But it also makes me grateful that I have such a companion to lean on.

A Cathartic Journey

With humor, insight and honesty, Lauree Ostrofsky's poignant memoir grabbed me by the lapels and forced me to think about my own choices and challenges. She has taken a central life-changing event--being diagnosed with a brain tumor--and its aftermath, to illustrate that it's never too late to redirect our lives and choose a path of deeper happiness. Ostrofsky avoids the genre's all-too-common self-help jargon and leaves the reader with richly drawn, intimate anecdotes that take us through moments of despair, elation, fear, and courage. I would recommend I'm Scared and Doing It Anyway, whether you're dealing with a medical crisis of your own, are at a personal crossroads or just enjoy a good read.

About the Author
A resident of Mattapoisett, Massachusetts, Allan Vaitses retired from full-time boatbuilding in the early 1980s after a 45-year career, including 30 years building custom and semicustom fiberglass boats. In his second career as a marine surveyor (a profession he still pursues), Vaitses has witnessed just about every flaw and form of damage or deterioration a fiberglass boat can suffer. In his third career as a writer, Vaitses has imparted his knowledge of boatbuilding, troubleshooting, and repair through such books as Lofting, Covering Wooden Boats With Fiberglass, Boatbuilding One-Off in Fiberglass, and What Shape Is She In? A Guide to the Surveying of Boats.

Also Valuable When Buying A Used Boat!

Of the many boatbuilding and repair manuals I have seen, I would consider this to be the best reference for fiberglass boat repair. The pictures on the dust-jacket alone indicate that a serious treatise is contained within. It would appear that no matter how bad it looks, there is no problem beyond the scope of the competent fiberglass repairman. (Caution - some of the color photos of repairs-in-progress between pages 118 and 119 are not for the faint-hearted!)
Mr. Vaitses has been at this for a long time and with experience in the world of wooden boats (all boats have wood in them somewhere) as well as having been a player in the fiberglass revolution, is able to offer a well-rounded perspective. His honest, no-nonsense approach to problem-solving is refreshing.
Besides the obvious background info and how-to descriptions, this book can be an invaluable asset when examining a used boat. Mr. Vaitses is currently working as a marine surveyor (a person who inspects and evaluates the condition of boats for prospective buyers). All used boats need some kind of work and the challenge then becomes evaluating the nature and scope of needed repairs, e.g. distinguishing structural and safety issues from cosmetics and determining whether one can affect the repairs oneself vs. how much it will cost to have someone else do it.
Studying this book allows one to communicate more effectively with the surveyor and to describe problems more accurately to repair facilities in order to estimate projected costs. We recently completed the evaluation and purchase of a 1974 36-foot fiberglass cruiser. I can honestly say that the knowledge and confidence I gained from this book made the entire process a good bit less nerve-racking than it might have been!

I have not used the book yet, but I looked it over, and it seems to be full of good information,,,, Later this year, I plan to build a hard top for two of my boats, and finish them with some sort of fiberglass matting and epoxy resin.. I hope these books make it as easy as it should be to get this part of the project done..

This book will utterly transform your love life and literally create magic! I now use the material from this book on a regular basis for my own purposes, and also with my clients while teaching Manifestation through the Law of Attraction. Dr. Berman explains scientiific quantum energy concepts in layman's terms and offers concrete advice and exercises that literally transform your love connection. My friend was visiting me from Italy this week, and she devoured this book while at my home and then bought it in Italian to have once she arrived home. This book is not to be missed! Clear, precise, practical and effective techniques that REALLY WORK!

A lot to be learned from this book

There was a lot to like and enjoy about this book. I took a lot away from it and it made me look at all my relationships -- not just with my spouse -- a little more closely. It did lose me when it went into a lot of detail about chakras, but that aside it makes you more aware of the energy and attitude you bring into your interactions with those close to you.

This really works!

I am only half way reading, but I started applying the teachings since the very first day and I have to thank the Universe and Dr. Laura Berman for this book. In just hours I started to notice drastic positive changes. This stuff really works!!! I knew about the law of attraction and quantum physics previously, have read over 20 books about it, but this perspective, this way of looking at it completely made me understand it fully. Sometimes you have to read and try several ways before getting there, just keep walking and never give up on yourself and your relationship. This way is the way that worked for me and I am pretty sure it will work for you too. I am so thankful for this knowledge!

Handbook of information

Rujuta has done a great job again with her unique conversational style.

Positive points-
1. Topics are well organized with just adequate information on each phase of pregnany-do's-&-don'ts
2. Native fruits and veggies of prominent parts of India are covered.
3. Number of native recipes have been included.

Negative points-
1. The book is true to its title- "Notes". It could have been made more elaborate.
2. The emphasis on yoga asanas is less compared to that on strength training. For people who just do asanas and no other form of exercise this book has left many questions unanswered. Although, the author has mentioned to refer to Iyergar Handbook for Motherhood or look up to one's yoga instructor.

Overall, I would recommend this book.
