About the Author
Mary Colbert is the wife of Dr. Don Colbert. They have two sons, six grandsons, and one granddaughter. One of eight children raised in a military home, she attended Oral Roberts University where she met her husband. Mary is a graduate of Rhema Bible School and is an ordained minister. Along with her husband of 35 years, she co-authored the New York Times bestseller Seven Pillars of Health. The Colberts live in Orlando, Florida.

Could be titled....keep these people at arms length even as friends!

A fun read...while this book is title 13 women you should not marry....it's a lot more than that. I feel blessed to have a gift for reading people. Not everyone can be so lucky. But after you hit a certain age you come to realize there are personality "types" and they can be women or Men that you have met many times with different names but they are not new to you with their quirks. Jill is just like sally that you met four years before. As parents we try to help our sons or daughters choose wisely with who they hang out with date etc.

As I read this book I see why Mary having 6 grandsons would want to write this for all of them.

I must say though that I know many Men that are like these women "all about appearances" "controlling men" etc. So to me this book gives good advice for Everyone.

As a women I chose to have a small circle of friends I prefer quality to quanity. I may be nice to all these personality types but I do not want to spend a lot of time with them. And we can only hope and pray that our sons don't marry one either.

This book is written as if a friend was sharing their experiences and backed up with scripture for each category. I see many men have the same woundings and same issues. Depending on what age that you marry hopefully people grow and mature out of these habits. But studies have shown that often times people get stuck at a certain age because of childhood woundings. I have a good friend who's mother is still 13 emotionally she will forever be the center of attention and a true narcissist.

Remember ...."A son is a son until he takes a wife, but a daughter is a daughter for the rest of her life!" Having a 32 year old son and a 25 year old daughter I know first hand it's a fact. You can treat your daughter-in-law like gold but sometimes this still happens.

I just got her book last week. I read it and it is fantastic for anyone to read! Yes, it is directed to young single men. But if you are a woman who wants to improve yourself for your husband, this book would help you too!

About the Author
Michael Whitman, Ph.D., CISM, CISSP is a Professor of Information Security at Kennesaw State University, Kennesaw, Georgia, where he is also the Executive Director of the KSU/Coles College of Business Center for Information Security Education. In 2004, 2007, 2012 and 2015, under his direction the Center for Information Security Education spearheaded KSU's successful bid for the prestigious National Center of Academic Excellence recognitions (CAE/IAE and CAE IA/CD) awarded by the Department of Homeland Security and the National Security Agency. Dr. Whitman is also the Editor-in-Chief of the Information Security Education Journal, and Director of the Southeast Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition. Dr. Whitman is an active researcher and author in Information Security Policy, Threats, and Curriculum Development, as well as Ethical Computing. He currently teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in Information Security. Dr. Whitman has several information security textbooks currently in print - Principles of Information Security, 5th Ed., Management of Information Security, 5th Ed., Readings and Cases in the Management of Information Security, Volumes I and II, The Hands-On Information Security Lab Manual, 4th Ed., Principles of Incident Response and Disaster Recovery, 2nd Ed., The Guide to Network Security and The Guide to Firewalls and Network Security, 3rd Ed. all from Cengage Learning. He has published articles in Information Systems Research, the Communications of the ACM, the Journal of International Business Studies, Information and Management, and the Journal of Computer Information Systems. Prior to coming to academia, Dr. Whitman was an officer in the U.S. Army, where he had the responsibilities of ADPSSO (Automated Data Processing System Security Officer).

Herbert Mattord, Ph.D., CISM, CISSP completed 24 years of IT industry experience as an application developer, database administrator, project manager, and information security practitioner before joining the faculty at Kennesaw State University, where he is Assistant Chair of the Department of Information Systems and Associate Professor of Information Security and Assurance program. Dr. Mattord currently teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in Information Security & Assurance as well as Information Systems. He and Michael Whitman are the authors of Principles of Information Security, 5th Ed, Management of Information Security, 5th Ed, Readings and Cases in the Management of Information Security, Principles of Incident Response and Disaster Recovery, 2nd Ed, The Guide to Network Security, and The Hands-On Information Security Lab Manual, 4th Ed all from Cengage Learning. Dr. Mattord is an active researcher and author in Information Security Management and related topics. He has published articles in the Information Resources Management Journal, Journal of Information Security Education, the Journal of Executive Education, and the International Journal of Interdisciplinary Telecommunications and Networking. Dr. Mattord is a member of the Information Systems Security Association, ISACA, and the Association for Information Systems. During his career as an IT practitioner, Dr. Mattord was an adjunct professor at Kennesaw State University, Southern Polytechnic State University in Marietta, Georgia, Austin Community College in Austin, Texas, and Texas State University: San Marcos. About the Author

Bertram J. Levine is the Charles Evans Hughes Fellow in Political Science (Emeritus) at Colgate University and a member of the Rutgers University Political Science Department. Prior to pursuing his PhD, he was Vice President of Federal Government Relations and State Government Relations for Johnson and Johnson. In that capacity, he headed the company's lobbying efforts in Washington, DC. During the 92nd and 93rd Congresses he served as a counsel to the Energy and Commerce Committee in the U.S. House of Representatives. Levine is the coauthor of Lobbying Congress: How the System Works, Second Edition. He has also authored a number of articles on interest groups and lobbying.

We Don't Always Find What We Were Looking For

I had read some of Neelima Vinod's poetry and enjoyed it, so knew she had a specialway with words and was intrigued to read her novella, wondering how a poet might fill the page when the words and sentences were required to touch both margins of the page continuously. Curious too, as it delves into the supernatural within the context of the story telling heritage of southern India, not quite the same as that contemporary foray into what is we refer to as the paranormal.

Being a novella, it is a relatively quick read and starts out as a love story, or its anti-thesis as it is clear that the relationship between the couple is being threatened by perceived jealousy. To heal their relationship Divya and Raghav seek out the services of Dr Ray, a yogi.

The Doctor sends them on a quest, to retrieve the ancient Scrolls of Love from an old abandoned house about which many stories have been told and which no one wishes to enter, in fear of what it is said to be possessed by. The Doctor's motives do not appear to be entirely altruistic, a twist in the story that was almost too subtle and had me rereading passages to observe him more closely than I did the first time through.

"It is in the one hundred-roomed mansion at Cherakad that the Scrolls of Love were buried during the terrible floods. It nearly wiped the village off the map centuries ago. No one has confirmed it though.

Archaeologists I have talked to have told me that the house lies abandoned. Any one in possession of the Scrolls would understand love's true secret-folklore at its best."

Parallel to the contemporary love story, we read a tale of the Royal Court poet Shankara, banished from the kingdom of Cherakad five centuries ago after falling out of favor with one of the King's concubines Meenakshi. Shankara roams the land in confusion and without purpose until he encounters a woman in white, Thathri, the same woman Divya has been dreaming of, whose story she had been told by her Grandmother when she was a child.

As the book progresses, connections between the tales arise as the mystery unravels, the past and the present become entwined as the couple attempt to conquer their quest and resurrect their struggling relationship.

Well written, it's an enjoyable read and one that requires careful attention in order to make the connections clear. I am sure there are things I was not aware of, I even wondered if Shankara was based on a real poet and whether this fable had connection to stories already told and passed down through families and villages. Sadly, it is a dying art, the gift of oral story telling, threatened more than ever by the technology of today's modern world.

Its title might suggest romance, but the dark and foreboding cover and spectre like presence within suggest it may be more of an alternative ghost story. Unsettling indeed.

Excellent read

Unsettled, the story of a couple and their visit to a haunted house in hopes of saving their marriage is an excellent read. Just few pages into it and am convinced I have a good read at hand and with every page I feel that it is surpassing my expectations. As the story progresses, am just traveling with it, eager to find what the story is all about. Both the story of the couple and that of the yakshi are convincingly narrated. Considering that it is a novella, the Author gets across the characters emotions crisply.
She wanted to trust, to forgive his transgressions, not because she was a doormat but because their love compensated for all foibles
She was like the words he(a poet) chased elusive yet necessary
The author's brilliance is reflected in her narration. Few samples that I really enjoyed,
Their love was sweet and young and cut unripened
Death had only magnified his presence as though he were broken shards of glass everywhere
...Quicksand is not good bedding
Libraries as large as the folds of our brain
Overall, its a very satiating read.Just one trivial point, I would have preferred a better title!

A doomed love

In one word, unputdownable. I was unable to stop reading once I had started Unsettled, and even found myself speed-reading in places to find out what would happen next. And then I wept a little weep for the doomed Thathri, who would never know love. One complaint I do have: I wish Neelima Vinod had not confined her story to a novella, but had written a full-fledged book. The story – and Neelima’s story-telling – deserve it.

About the Author

Derek Arden is a leading negotiation expert. An international keynote conference speaker, business coach and facilitator, he has worked in 27 countries, with 5 business schools and has been a visiting lecturer at the Henley Management College for 12 years.

Derek was a Director in a large profit centre of a financial institution for 12 years and has negotiated transactions worth �3bn.

The "Go To" Resource On An Increasingly Important Skill.

Derek Arden’s book Win Win is a compendium of negotiating wisdom gleaned by the author's experience and his research. It would be easy to see how this book could become the “go-to” reference for anyone who negotiates…which as Arden points out, is all of us, nearly all the time.

Packed full of insights, tools and techniques it stays away from the “scorched Earth” policies of many other books on the subject. It really lives up to its name Win/Win throughout the entire book. Arden points out several times that there are just some times you have to walk away from the table (a legitimate position) because reality is an acquired taste and some people are starving.

My copy of this book is flagged, underscored and dog eared. It will be a working reference guide going forward beginning with a tricky situation I am facing at the moment for a long term contract for my services.

If you are wondering whether or not you should invest in this book, ask yourself this: “What if my competitor across the table has bought and read it!?” Feeling lucky? Then don’t buy it.
