Great advice, easy read

I give this book 5 stars because it was so easy for me to read (I have a really short attention span) and easy for me to grasp the excellent advice Ms. Miller dished out. If you're not careful, you may think the author is a little brash in her advice giving. But each chapter is very short (no more than 2-3 pages average) and blunt and to the point. She smartly sums up each chapter with 2-3 bulleted point short sentences. No long, drawn out explanations about crap we already know. She is like the girlfriend that fusses at you when you tell her something stupid you did in your dating life. This book is a nice self-esteem booster, especially if you are struggling a little bit in dealing with guys you are dating. I am giving this book out as gifts.

The only dating book that really works!

Right away, after following just a few of the tips from Romy Miller I was getting men stuffing phone numbers in my hand, men turning to look at me and asking me out...and I didn't even need to say a word. She basically puts very simple and powerful information in your hands to have men chasing after you. I can't imagine ever needing to read another book on dating again. Within 48 hours of finishing the book a man I knew and was crazy about from a year ago showed up, approached me and asked me out. Crazy coincidence maybe, but I can't recommend the book highly enough. It worked for me and I just know now it is the women who have all the power and men should be chasing us! Good luck to y'all. This book is the bible on attracting men's attention and having them want you. Thank you, Romy.

Really BEST! dating book!!!

I've read quite a number of dating advice books, like Why men love/marry bitches, the dating rules, etc. I found this book really really gives me the right attitude and the power I want. While the "Why men" series get me being too aggressive and not being myself (which is a bit uncomfortable to me), this book really says dating tips best, and I know it works this time. I just finished this book, and I know I am going to change and be a lot more comfortble out there, and I am SELF-CONFIDENT NOW!!! I know I am going to be great! Really thanks!!! I highly recommend this book. It's really really a nice gift.

Although published in 1990, this book makes no mention of the important contribution of John Finnis' Natural Law and Natural Rights (Clarendon Law) to natural law theory. They could have learned how to read Aquinas from Finnis. Their critique of Aquinas' definition of law is misleading.

Excellent - A must have !!!!!!!!!!!

I am an avid reader of Cycle Source magazine and look forward to receiving my latest issue every month because of the high quality content of each and every issue. When I saw that Chris Callen had written a book , I knew I had to have it. "Custom Bike Building Basics" is NOT a compilation of old Cycle Source articles - this is all new text and pics to help show you how to build a scoot of your own at home and how to do it on a budget - the right way.

This book is a must have for anyone that wants to build or is currently building their own chopper or bobber. No, this book isn't going to make you into a master mechanic but it is going to show you the details and steps involved in building a bike from the ground up.

My advice - BUY THIS BOOK - and buy it now !!!!!! And if you don't subscribe to Cycle Source - do yourself a favor and subscribe to it as well - it's only $25 a year for 12 issues. Trust me, you will be thanking me later.

Help with building your own motorcycle.

Having been a long time reader of Cycle Source magazine I really looked forward to this book. I enjoy the articles about do it yourself tech for home builders. This book has a lot of those tips and a section on work shop set up and tool selection. These sections alone probably justify the cost of the book for a first time builder. That being said I would have liked to see expanded coverage of electrical wiring, wheel lacing and chassis set up. As it is the book is still a useful addition to your library if you are building you own custom motorcycle.

This book is worthless, it drops names like an out of work movie star. No tech info at all except who the author paid to have the work done on his chopper. I don't believe the author did any of the work himself. If your looking for any basic info even terms like rake, trail stretch, rise you will not find it here. The only thing interesting is all the stupid nicknames other people had that the author had mentioned.

Great Kindle First selection... informative and entertaining

Rarely do I see a non-fiction book as a Kindle First selection, even more rarely is it one that actually looks interesting to me. I usually go for the Mystery/Suspense/Thrillers but I switched it up this month. Everyone loves a good, thought-provoking quote, I'm sure I'm not the only one who has filled notebooks with some of their favorites. Between quotes and lyrics I must have filled up dozens of composition books in my youth. I found some cleaning recently and it's really revealing to go back and read what spoke to you in years past. This book delves into many well known quotes from the past and explores what they mean, how they've been misinterpreted or wrongly attributed and I learned a lot I never knew. Bonus points to the author for mentioning one of my favorite singers, POE, in the first few pages... completely irrelevant to this review but check her out too. Anyway, I recommend this as a Kindle First selection for sure and if you're reading this after it's no longer a free selection I would recommend clicking the cover above and reading the first few pages for free. That alone is enough to tell you whether you will find this book as interesting as I did.

I lost interest

Like a few other reviewers, I was very interested in the description of this book. Unfortunately, although the author seems to have done a ton of research in an attempt to get to the root of the sayings, the book is written in a dry style. I read several of the quotations, but quickly lost interest. I believe I would appreciated it more if I had been looking for a reference book. I am not sure about recommending it, because it would all depend upon the reader's intentions. If it is just to enjoy a light read about familiar quotations, some of which aren't all that familiar, I would say give it a pass. If you are using this work as a reference to check your sources and accuracy, then it would be a better fit.

The obscure references got tedious quickly. I generally like learning obscure facts that I can use to irritate people, but this was like the author was doing that to me. Handy to settle arguments, not a book to sit down and just read.
